Eve Branson Foundation

This trip is just an hour from Marrakesh and yet you feel like you are many more miles away. Asni is the larger of a group of small villages, found at the base of the Atlas mountains. By a river and next to a wildlife reserve, this is a wonderful location. The hotel we stay in, is five minutes walk from where we treat and is a family-run place, full of charm, absolutely delicious food in abundance and has some of the most stunning views of the mountains you could imagine. We have shared rooms, with a maximum of three to a room, all with their own bathrooms.

Working closely with the local associations to properly maintain our Fluoride and oral hygiene programmes, they coordinate with the schools brilliantly, so that as many children as possible can be treated.

We also work closely with The Eve Branson Foundation alongside the associations. Having worked together for many years now we are regularly treated to a tea or a meal at the Kasbah, the luxury Richard Branson resort close by, it’s nice to be spoiled!

It’s hard to explain how welcoming and kind the people are in this area. The work is tiring, and emotional; with people often reflecting on how they appreciate what they have and also being so grateful to be able to help so many.

Come and join us on this amazing journey.

Ruth’s Experience

Ruth Connelly

I can’t even put it into words, what I’ve been through this week. It’s been very humbling having worked in dentistry for 15 years. It’s not like anything I’ve ever practised in the UK, it’s literally stripped back to basics but it makes you appreciate the skills that we’ve learned overtime and what we can offer. It means we can do a great deal more for the patients here than we can in the UK.

In no way have I felt afraid like I thought I might have, I’ve felt really relaxed and welcome into the community, you feel like a member of the family. It’s actually made me a better nurse.

Liam’s Experience

It’s full on, it’s busy work and everybody that comes here throws their ego out of the door before they arrive, everyone mucks in and supports everyone else. We know what we’re here to do and why we’re doing it, you definitely feel useful.

If you’re thinking about coming, just do it, it’s such a lovely group of people, you will feel incredibly welcomed, right from the get go, it’s hard to think that in five or six days, you can get to know people so well, it’s like a community feel. When you’re working that hard with each other, you get to know yourself as well, I can assure you that you won’t regret it.

Graham’s Experience

This time, it’s been full on and even though it’s hard, it’s really rewarding, and then after that, we’ve had a fantastic time and lovely weather. We’ve had a perfect place to stay, it’s been really good. I know it sounds daft, but it’s an ideal holiday for me. It’s win-win, you’re enjoying yourself and you know you’re doing some good.

Go do it, because it will change your life, it’s hard work but you just get so much out of it and not only that, I can honestly say, the people that you meet are great, I’ve never really been on a trip where there’s been arguments or problems with egos, people seem to leave them behind. So you enjoy yourself, work hard, and you do get time for leisure and you’re in a nice place.

It will change your life, if you’re thinking about doing it, do it, you won’t be disappointed and you’re also going to do a lot of good.
